The Art of Choosing Each Other

October 21, 2025

It’s funny how love matures.

When Renee and I first met, love was loud — fireworks and fascination. But over time, love became something quieter, sturdier… something that breathes even in the silence.

We just celebrated our anniversary, and I found myself reflecting on what it really means to choose someone — not just when everything is easy and glowing, but when it’s hard. When you’re tired, when the storms hit, when you’ve both changed in ways you didn’t expect.

Marriage, for me, isn’t a fairytale ending. It’s an ongoing act of devotion. It’s two people standing in the mess and beauty of life saying, “I’m still here. I still choose you.”

Renee and I have weathered our share of storms. There were moments that broke us open, but in that breaking, we found something truer. The kind of love that doesn’t need to be perfect — just honest.

What I know now is that partnership isn’t about being the same person you were when you started. It’s about learning how to meet each other again and again, in new skin, with softer hearts.

That’s the art of choosing each other.
